HARRY BINSWANGER
PhD, Philosophy, 1973, Columbia University
Dr. Binswanger is the author of The Biological Basis of Teleological Concepts, the editor of The
Ayn Rand Lexicon and co-editor of the second edition of Ayn Rand's Introduction to Objectivist
Epistemology. Dr. Binswanger is a professor of philosophy at the Ayn Rand Institute's Objectivist Academic Center
and is a member of ARI's board of directors. He is currently working on a book on the nature of consciousness.

TORE BOECKMANN
Writer
Mr. Boeckmann's mystery short stories have been published and anthologized in several languages. He edited Ayn Rand's The Art
of Fiction. Recent publications include "The Fountainhead as a Romantic Novel" and "What Might Be and Ought to Be:
Aristotle's Poetics and The Fountainhead" in Essays on Ayn Rand's "The Fountainhead" (Robert
Mayhew, editor).

YARON BROOK
PhD, Finance, 1994, University of Texas at Austin
Dr. Brook is president and executive director of the Ayn Rand Institute. A former finance professor, he has published
in academic as well as popular publications and is frequently interviewed in the media. He has appeared on CNN, Fox
Business Network, Fox News Channel, CNBC and PBS, among others. He lectures on Objectivism, business ethics and foreign
policy at college campuses and for corporations across America and throughout the world.

PAT CORVINI
PhD, Electrical Engineering, 1995, University of California, Santa Barbara
Dr. Corvini is an independent scholar in the history and philosophy of mathematics. Her long-term research interests focus
on the nature of abstraction and the role of induction in math. She has lectured on mathematics at four previous Objectivist
summer conferences and is currently writing a book on the nature of mathematical concepts.

ERIC DANIELS
PhD, American History, 2001, University of Wisconsin
Dr. Daniels is a research assistant professor at the Clemson Institute for the Study of Capitalism. He has lectured
at summer conferences and is an alumnus of ARI's Objectivist Graduate Center. His publications include a chapter in
The Abolition of Antitrust and entries in the Oxford Companion to United States History.

ALEX EPSTEIN
BA, Philosophy, 2002, Duke University, North Carolina
Mr. Epstein is an analyst at the Ayn Rand Institute, focusing on business issues. His op-ed articles have been published
in hundreds of newspapers around the world. He is also a contributing writer for The Objective Standard.

DINA SCHEIN FEDERMAN
PhD, Philosophy, 2003, University of Texas at Austin
Dr. Federman currently consults and researches in the Ayn Rand Archives, a special collection of the Ayn Rand Institute.
A graduate of ARI's Objectivist Graduate Center, she taught philosophy at Auburn University. She translated the Russian
correspondence from Ayn Rand's family, has published on Objectivism and lectures at Objectivist conferences on ethics,
esthetics, and Ayn Rand's biographical material.

MARILYN GEORGE

Ms. George is a retired Montessori teacher, school owner and administrator. She has been dancing socially for twenty years.
Mr. Gray, a retired engineer, has been dancing since his teens.
Marilyn and Ted consider dancing primarily a social and romantic activity. They met each other at a dance lesson at an
Objectivist conference. As a couple they have given many formal and informal group lessons—at home, at conferences and
on a cruise ship—and occasionally enter amateur dance competitions.

ONKAR GHATE
PhD, Philosophy, 1996, University of Calgary
Dr. Ghate is a senior fellow at the Ayn Rand Institute, where he teaches philosophy in the Institute's Objectivist
Academic Center. He has lectured on Objectivism across North America and has published scholarly articles on Ayn Rand's
works. Dr. Ghate has appeared as a guest on BBC radio, CNBC, CBS Evening News and Fox News Channel.

RAY GIRN

Mr. Girn teaches and designs curriculum at LePort Schools, a private elementary and junior high school in Mission Viejo,
California. He has completed the Objectivist Academic Center's undergraduate program and is currently enrolled in its
graduate program.

ELAN JOURNO
BA, Philosophy, 1997, King's College, London
Mr. Journo is a resident fellow at the Ayn Rand Institute, focusing on foreign policy. His articles have appeared in such
publications as the Los Angeles Times, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Chicago Sun-Times and
The Objective Standard. He has spoken at college campuses and given numerous radio interviews on U.S. foreign
policy.

ANDREW LEWIS

Mr. Lewis has studied philosophy at the Objectivist Academic Center, the University of Melbourne (Australia) and the
University of Southern California. He worked with Dr. Peikoff on his radio show, and is assistant director at VanDamme
Academy. He is currently preparing a history curriculum, covering ancient, European and American history, for middle and
high school students.

JOHN LEWIS
PhD, Classics, 2001, University of Cambridge
Dr. Lewis is a senior research scholar in history and classics at the Social Philosophy and Policy Center, Bowling Green
State University. A writer for The Objective Standard, his books are Solon the Thinker and Early
Greek Lawgivers. His book Nothing Less than Victory is forthcoming.

EDWIN A. LOCKE
PhD, Industrial Organizational Psychology, 1964, Cornell University
Dr. Locke is Dean's Professor (Emeritus) of Motivation and Leadership at the R.H. Smith School of Business at the
University of Maryland, College Park. He is internationally known for his research and writings on work motivation and
related topics and has received numerous scholarly awards. He has given many lectures and courses at Objectivist
conferences.

KEITH LOCKITCH
PhD, Physics, 1999, University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee
Dr. Lockitch is a resident fellow at the Ayn Rand Institute. He writes and edits for ARI and is a professor in the
Objectivist Academic Center, where he teaches undergraduate writing and a graduate course on the history of physics.
Before joining ARI in 2003, Dr. Lockitch was a postdoctoral researcher in physics.

ROBERT MAYHEW
PhD, Philosophy, 1991, Georgetown University
Dr. Mayhew, professor of philosophy at Seton Hall University, is the author of three books on Plato and/or Aristotle and
the editor or author of seven books by or about Ayn Rand. He recently completed a book on Prodicus and is currently editing
a collection of essays on Atlas Shrugged.

SHOSHANA MILGRAM
PhD, Comparative Literature, 1978, Stanford University
Dr. Milgram, an associate professor of English at Virginia Tech, has lectured on Ayn Rand in university courses, at the
Smithsonian and at academic and Objectivist conferences. Her publications include articles on Ayn Rand, Hugo and Dostoevsky.
Her current project is a study of Ayn Rand's life up to 1957.

RICHARD RALSTON
MA, International Relations, 1977, University of Southern California
Mr. Ralston is publishing manager of the Ayn Rand Institute. After Army service, Mr. Ralston published The Christian
Science Monitor, consulted IBM, British Airways and CNN, edited Communism: Its Rise and Fall in the 20th
Century, Why Businessmen Need Philosophy and revised The Early Ayn Rand and Three Plays.

JOHN RIDPATH
PhD, Economics, 1974, University of Virginia
Dr. Ridpath (York University, retired) writes and speaks in defense of capitalism and on the impact throughout Western
history—including the American founding era—of the ideas of the major philosophers. A recipient of numerous
teaching awards, and nominee for Canadian Professor of the Year, he continues to lecture throughout Europe and North America.

GREG SALMIERI
BA, Philosophy, 2001, The College of New Jersey
Mr. Salmieri is a doctoral candidate in philosophy at the University of Pittsburgh, where he is working on a dissertation
titled "Aristotle and the Problem of Concepts." He specializes in epistemology and ancient philosophy.

PETER SCHWARTZ
MA, Journalism, 1972, Syracuse University
Mr. Schwartz is the author of The Foreign Policy of Self-Interest: A Moral Ideal for America and
editor/contributing author of Ayn Rand's Return of the Primitive: The Anti-Industrial Revolution. He is the
founding editor and publisher of The Intellectual Activist and a former chairman of ARI's board of directors.

SANDRA SHAW
MA, Philosophy, 1992, University of Toronto
Ms. Shaw is a professional sculptor with works in collections worldwide. She studied sculpture and drawing at the
National Academy, New York. She has lectured on art history at summer conferences since 1995, and since 2004 has been
teaching and developing arts curricula at LePort Schools, Mission Viejo, California.

TARA SMITH
PhD, Philosophy, 1989, The Johns Hopkins University
Dr. Smith is professor of philosophy at the University of Texas, Austin, where she currently holds the Anthem Foundation
Fellowship. She is the author of Moral Rights & Political Freedom, Viable Values and Ayn Rand's
Normative Ethics—The Virtuous Egoist, as well as numerous articles.

LISA VANDAMME
BA, Philosophy, 1994, University of Texas at Austin
Ms. VanDamme is the owner and director of VanDamme Academy, a private school in Laguna Hills, California, where she is
responsible for administration, teacher training and curriculum supervision. Ms. VanDamme's theoretical work focuses
on the application of Objectivism to literature and educational theory.

KARA ZAVARELLA

Miss Zavarella is a doctoral candidate in the English department at New York University, where she specializes in early
American literature. Her research interests involve the intellectual and emotional responses of early Americans to novels
and plays. She is also a student in the graduate program of the Objectivist Academic Center.

LIN ZINSER

Ms. Zinser founded FIRM (Freedom and Individual Rights in Medicine) in January 2007 to fight against socialized medicine
and for freedom in Colorado health care. See www.WeStandFIRM.org. Lin also founded Front Range Objectivism. She is an
attorney who litigated cases with medical and insurance issues for nineteen years.
